This is one of my first blogs, so I thought I would write about my life-fullfilling experience as I finally ssaw Paul McCartney in September. The Beatles have been my idols for as long as I remember.
The concert date finally arrives. As I am parking the car, I noticed a group gathering around the loading ramp to the Garden. I figured I would hang out and see if he drives up! The tour manager (I think) came out and told us to line up on one side of the street so we would get a better view of him driving in. It turns out that he came in from the other side, and it turned into a mad dash to get a quick snapshot, or even an autograph. I got a quick, blurry photo from my cell phone. It was cool to see him drive up, even though I didn't get a good shot.
After waiting in line for quite a while inside the Garden at the turnstiles, they finally let us in. I had great seats on the floor. I sat for a while by myself. The place started to fill up, and a woman sat down next to me. It turns out her friend was not able to get a seat next to her, so she had her own seat a few rows up. I offered to switch out my seat, if she wanted. She did, so I got to move up about 10 rows!
The Concert started after a great 10 minute film showcasing his life. The movie ended and the lights came up as Paul and the band rocked out "Magical Mystery Tour." Through the course of the night, he played over 35 songs. Some I have never heard him do live before (during his solo years). His new material from "Chaos and Creation" of course, Helter Skelter, I'll Follow the Sun, Too Many People, Bathroom Window, and I've Got a Feelin.
The Concert was great. I can't say enough about how great he sounded. Even with some mistakes (which he openly admitted). What I find fascinating is how healthy his voice sounds. Not once did he take a drink of water on stage. He sang for 2 hours and 45 minues. It was well worth the $150!
